progress report july 07

Planning the year it’s a game of two halves and this is the second half of the year. I’ve had my half time orange and now it’s on with the show. I realise that I’ve given attention to some things and not to others. So it’s time to ease off on the things that I have done in the first half and to focus on the areas that I have neglected.

I’m still doing this but to a lesser extent. Pilates is teaching me that I don’t need to do it so hard and that the contractions should be around 30% of the maximum. And it is about triggering other stabilizer muscles.

Pilates

I have managed to weave this into my yoga practice and into my teaching. And the other thing is that I have been working on it in everything that I do. So any movement really, especially awkward ones where you have to hold yourself in a weird position for a while. DIY for example.

Meditation

Been doing my 5 minute sit after the pages but haven’t really been doing a proper sit. But I’d like to. I miss it.

My own yoga practice

I feel like I’m back on track. I’ve been doing it and it’s been kind of intuitive and I have weaved the Pilates into it and I’m happy with the way it’s going.

Diet – 5 a day, etc

Some serious junk food cravings. Take aways and all that. Very low and the fruit and veg count, but not worrying about it too much. I know that I won’t be eating the rubbish for too long. I have gone a couple of kilos above my target weight so now is the time to nip it in the bud, before fat bloke makes another appearance.

Bike rides eg London to Brighton etc

Have to make up for that traffic jam that was the BHF London to Brighton. So maybe in September I’ll go on my own. In the meantime I have been going on my ride down to Orpington and have been checking out Audax. Looks good.

Reading

I read a whole novel this month. Proper literature aside from study and research. It’s good for the soul.

Trips to visit friends

Hasn’t been any of that this month.

Selling things on Ebay and having a clear out

No selling on ebay during July either.

Pampering and ‘me’ time

Got my massage, but that’s only one day in the month. What other pampering have I done? I have treated myself to the odd glass of single malt and beer and chili crackers. But it’s felt like doing something that I needed rather than an indulgence. Pampering should be more like spoiling myself, like luxury. More of that please.

Reviews in the blog – films, books, exhibitions etc

I know I said that thing about the one liner, but I haven’t done it. I just haven’t blogged that much. I don’t want to be blogged down by my blog. It’s meant to be fun not work.

Selling more wheels on ebay

I haven’t needed to put any more ads in ebay as the inquiries are coming in thick and fast. Not many orders, but lots of questions. I want to do more since getting Gerd Schraner’s book as he suggested a few tips that I’d like to try.

I finally found a Swedish teacher. Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah, hurrah. We’re gonna trade Swedish lessons of yoga lessons.

Forget about it. It’s too far down the list. I don’t know if I’m gonna write a song this year.

Business Plan

I’m having some business coaching. Can you believe that. It’s really helping me to put together my business plan. And now I actually feel confident that I may actually get this idea off the ground.

Learning PHP

I have discovered these great php tutorial videos. And I have been applying what I have been learning directly into my work. I have been thinking of taking it a bit more seriously and doing a two-year part-time course in open source IT applications. It would fit in pretty well with my lifestyle and it would teach me exactly what I needed to know.

Typing

I want to use the Jamey Andreas method to improve my typing skills. The best way that I have found to do that so far is to do it when the computer is off. Then I can just focus on the fingers rather than on what I’m typing. The first thing to establish is relaxation.
