new floor

Just put down a new floor in the bedroom. The laminate boards had been sitting there for over a year after we bought them to do both the hallway and the bedroom. The hallway was done by my brother-in-law where I helped a little bit. I had also helped with the living room a few years ago. So having only helped I thought that it would be far too difficult for me to do on my own. But that helping was a sort of apprenticeship and made me realise that perhaps I could do it on my own.
All the tools and materials were at had and most of the methods were still kind of fresh in my mind. All it needed was a bit of careful planning. The planning merely consisted of going through the process in my mind and seeing if any further materials were required. Then calculating a rough duration for the task. A bit of scheduling and off we went.
Got the carpet up after moving stuff out of there. And so much dust under the bed. A chance for a clearout. All that stuff hanging around. Stuff you no longer care about. What a waste of space. And moths. Holes in the carpet caused by moths.
Some fibreboard underlay and then off we go. The laminate boards just click together and then it’s just a case of cutting when you get to the end of the row. Didn’t do it all in one go, but in three sessions. And only the beading to go now.
It’s one of those things that seem too difficult or unsurmountable but once you get down to it you find that it’s not too hard at all. Pat on the back I think.
