progress report november 2007
November has been a pretty busy month with hardly any time to blog at all. Lots of preparations for the new baby due in January and plenty of website work to get on with. But what about my other goals? Have they been neglected then? Read on and find out.
Pilates
Forget it.
Meditation
Something is not working here. I was just starting to get it and plan slots for the week and all that. But I seem to have lost the momentum. Don’t know what it is really. I see a need but there is no real urge. One mustn’t force these things you know.
My own yoga practice
Now that I’m teaching less, I’m actually doing some of my own practice. It’s really nice. I take a break from the computer and roll out the mat. Put on some nice music and off I go. I know exactly what my body needs.
Diet – eating well, keeping my target weight
I’m well above my target weight and I can feel it when I do certain postures. I don’t mind being a little bit heavier than usual for a little while but what I don’t like is feeling a little less agile and flabby. And christmas is coming. Oh dear! Return of the fat bloke?
Bike rides eg London to Brighton etc
No bike rides apart from the usual commutes. Ain’t no time baby, ain’t no time.
Reading
I finally cracked open Brothers Karamazov and I’m glad I did. I’m going through it very slowly but it’s a great read. Very funny. Human nature doesn’t change does it?
Trips to visit friends
Even though the visits can be brief, they are certainly worth it. It’s so important to keep this up.
Selling things on Ebay and having a clear out
To make way for the baby we have been having a serious clearout and the mrs has been very active selling things on ebay. So this is great news.
Pampering and ‘me’ time
I did have my massage this month and I took plenty of baths. But I do need to think of other ways to pamper myself. Because I’m worth it.
Reviews in the blog – films, books, exhibitions etc
I think that this is one that will have to go next year as I seem to have lost interest afterthe first month or so.
Wheel building
Plenty of wheel building going on. Oh yeah. And I love the meditative feeling that it gives. I still only charge a tenner a wheel, so there’s no money in it. But that’s not what it’s about is it.

Working on my Svenska
Not in the least.
Music and Songwriting
My plan was to write and submit at least one song this year. Well, there’s a month left. Perhaps I’ll get inspired.

Learning PHP
Still going strong but have had the odd week where I have been disturbed by parents reading to their children in other parts of the library. It’s good to be able to apply what I learn immediately to my work. It’s also good to have wi-fi at the library so that I can look things up on php.net. I’m about halfway through my tutor book now and I think that this may be one tutor book that I will actually complete.
Typing
I have actually been working on my typing, but with the computer switched off. My wife always gives me a strange look when she sees me do it even though she knows what I’m doing. I’ll explain more in another post. It’s all about relaxation.
