task tracker

When I first started doing web design, I did a few simple sites, which were already challenging at the time with my limited knowledge of the business. But now that my knowledge and experience have both evolved, so has the complexity of the sites that I do. Plus I have more sites on the go at the same time. It could be recipe for disaster and disorganisation. Enter, the task tracker.
In order to make myself future proof and stop myself from getting snowed under I created what I have called the task tracker. It’s an excel spreadsheet comprising of three sheets in one workbook. The first one has a basic overview of tasks that would be relevant to any site. Such as creating templates, stylesheets, image folder, header etc. The second sheet is a list of specific tasks and each has a unique task id and two date columns. One called pending, and one called completed. Each has a tick box. The third sheet is for more details. This is good if I’m half way through a task and I have to stop. I enter the task id and a few notes. Then it’s easy to pick up where I left off.
I have made a template file of this task tracker and then just create a new file for each site that I’m working on. So now for each site I have an overview of the job, the individual tasks and I know exactly where I am. Well, as long as I update the tracker.

I read some of the posts and I think it is a great site. Do you want to improve my intense lab Wanna good joke? What is the difference between a photocopier and the whooping cough? One makes facsimiles and the other makes sick families.
