progress report feb/march 2008

At the end of January I finally managed to get Yearplan 2008 completed and written into a page. And then I missed the deadline (the end of Feb) with the February progress report. So what I’ve done is to combine February and March together. And what with Easter being early this year it feels like it’s later in the year. Anyway, excuses aside, here it is.

Minimum of 100 miles per week

I think I managed this once this year so far. Mainly due to lack of bike rides. My commuting mileage has been around the 85 mile mark and in order to tip it over the 100 mark I need to add that bike ride. But the weather has been shite and I have been pretty knackered with the baby and all.

Meditation

I’m teaching two meditation classes a week now which is certainly inspiring me to get to grips with my practice. The best way to learn is to teach as they say.

Yoga practice

I have a plan of getting back into the Light on Yoga 300-week course again but I’ve had that plan for long time. I’m only teaching 4 regular classes a week now so it’s important that I keep up my own practice.

Achievement Log

I know I’ve put this on the list but now I only seem to record and celebrate big achievements. Small ones are important too.

Bike rides

Well, I’ve managed one this year but I would like to do more and on regular basis. My plan is to extend that one to Pratt’s Bottom and back. Make it a forty miler instead of 25 miler.

Relaxing and fun activities

I’ve been finding this hard. I have gone to the cinema a few times because my Cineworld unlimited card is about to run out but other than that it all seems to be study and work. If I’m not working on something then I feel like I’m wasting my time. That’s why it’s important that this one is on the list. So even when I’m faffing about and feel like I should be doing something more significant I can say to myself that I’m achieving one of my goals for the year.

Ebay Sales

I’ve listed one item so far on ebay this year. I spend so much time messing around with the stylesheet that I never get round to listing more items. So this time I limited myself to only a few style rules.

Clearing stuff out

I’ve managed to throw out some clothes that were torn and some that didn’t fit any more. I seem to wear old clothes if I don’t have a replacement. It’s a good feeling throwing things out.

Computer Off Day

Every Sunday. This is fantastic. My wife usually has the computer on and it can be quite tempting to have a quick look at my e-mails or whatever. But it’s good to have a complete break from it.

The Wheel Log

As soon as I complete an order for wheels I take a photo. Then it goes into my wheel log spreadsheet and soon afterwards enters the wheel log. I’m sure that I made around 50 wheels last year but there is no record. There were some interesting ones too. Seems like I enjoy keeping records.

Svenska

I had my first session this year. It’s an exchange of Swedish for web design. But last time it was more web design than Swedish. It’s good to know that I still understand quite a bit.

Learning PHP

I got about half way through my PHP quick start guide book by Larry Ullman last year and this year I plan to complete it. Last year I use to have a slot on Saturday mornings but that is no longer available, so I’ve found a new one on Wednesday mornings.

Typing

Those exercises I did last year for the shift key with the little finger have really stuck. The first thing I need to do is to set a few goals and that means doing the speed test again. I think that my speed is around 30 wpm so I would like to get it up to 50 wpm by the end of the year. That’s realistic isn’t it.
