april 2008/10 Dura Ace 7600 hubs on Mavic Open Pro 2/3-cross

Another first this year – the 2-cross lacing pattern. This pair was laced 2-cross on the front wheel and 3-cross on the rear. The hubs were Shimano Dura Ace 7600 high flange track hubs in 32 hole and the rims were Mavic Open Pro in black. The spokes were DT Swiss double butted with brass nipples. Spoke lengths were 280 mm and 291 mm.
The only special thing about these wheels was the fitting of the seal rings. I don’t know why they couldn’t have done this at the factory. You had to put these little plastic washers onto the place made for them just outside the cone. That meant loosening the cone of course. It’s difficult to get the cone adjustment correct without fitting it onto the frame. Very nice wheels though.

The reason they don’t put the seals on in the factory is because track riders generally prefer to ride without them. It gives less friction, and you don’t need to keep out rain on the track.
