A second set of these lovely Shimano Dura Ace hubs that just spin so well. It’s a shame about the business of the seal rings. On this occasion the guy I was building them for asked me not to fit them as the cones are so well adjusted at the factory. Just have to stay out of the rain.
Mavic Open Pro, one of my most favourite rims but this time with the ceramic coating on the braking surfaces. Why do I like them so much? Because they are well joined and very malleable. It doesn’t take many turns at the nipple to bring them into true, radially, laterally or in terms of dish. They are also very strong and will take a very high tension. As far as building goes they beat their peers hands down even their brothers and sisters such as CXP 22, 23 and 33. When you’ve built wheels with all these rims you appreciate the joy of building on Open Pros.
Laced 3-cross front and rear with 288mm DT Swiss double butted spokes with brass nipples.
