arup’s new year message

Every new year I wonder how much the tube fares are going up and this year is no exception. I was thinking maybe 20p and hoping for 10p. But the truth is always worse. It’s 30p. So now it’s £5.70 for a zone 1 – 4 travelcard. What a complete rip off. And do wages go up? No, of course not. But then I hardly ever take the tube or any form of public transport as I usually travel by bicycle and will continue to do so this year as well.

Last year seems to have vanished in the blink of an eye. But then you could say that about every year. Last year my plan was to "do less" and I ended up doing more. This year I have made a whole list of things to do in my goals for 2007. Does that mean I will end up doing nothing?

Everyone’s on a diet as well, including me. I have put on almost a stone over christmas. That’s not good. But expected. I go from exercising a lot and eating frugally to doing hardly anything and eating about triple the amount. So it will take about three months to shift that.

And more heat waves this year? Let’s hope so. I love being hot and sweaty all the time.

Happy New Year to you all and hope that you move a little closer to your dreams.
