Roll on San Marco – new bicycle saddle

Just bought myself a San Marco Rolls saddle on ebay. Prior to that I had a Club Roost saddle. It was something that I had bought in an emergency when my saddle was stolen. I just went along to the bike shop and got a cheapish one. Took it to where I had left the bike and fitted it. But it turned out to quite comfortable and so I continued to use it for a good 3-4 years. But a few weeks ago it just started to feel rather uncomfortable. At first I thought that perhaps it might just be that day but it continued that way and began to get worse. I tried some minor adjustments (moving the nose about one degree to the right) which did improve things somewhat but not as much as I would have liked.

So it was time for a new saddle. I had a look at some of the threads about saddles on lfgss.com and got some ideas. Most recommended the Brooks leather saddle. But it was a little out of my price range and I didn’t want to commit to the time required to break it in. And as I tend to leave my bike locked up I didn’t want to risk any theft. So I opted for a mid-priced saddle which I got even cheaper second hand. I’ve had one of these saddles before: it was the one that was stolen. As far as I remember (it was about eight years ago) I didn’t like it but this one is perfect. Really comfy. I set it up exactly as I had my Club Roost saddle but decreased the tilt angle a degree or two and set the nose more centrally aligned rather than so far to the right. Let’s hope that it doesn’t get stolen again.
