Turbo boost beyond the red

Most people who use this tyre know that it will last a long time but this here is pretty mad and risky. As you can see from the picture it has gone well beyond the red and the threads are showing. When I took this photo it I had just replaced it with a Continental Ultra Duraskin Gatorskin and I could feel by placing my thumb and forefinger either side of this patch how thin it really was. We’re talking less than a millimeter.

It was about two months till I got round to changing the tyre riding it back and forth across London. I’ve used these tyres before but have never taken them this far. I had already bought the new tyre about a month before I put it on but being a stingy old so and so I kept putting it off and off. In the meantime I kept looking at it and praying that it would hold out. A bit like squeezing out those last drops from the ketchup bottle or the toothpaste tube. But I can rest easy now that the new tyre is on there.

Now you may be thinking that this is a rear tyre and that I’ve been doing a lot of skidding. But you’d be wrong. I can’t skid and this is indeed a front tyre. London roads man, they’re bad, real bad.
