2009/27 Wolber GTX-2 rims on Campag Record hubs

The second time I’ve worked with these hubs this year. The ERD was pretty big at 616mm which is getting into tub territory and makes the double layer pretty small. I think I used a spoke length that was a tad too long so that after the rim tape was on you could just about feel the end of the spoke. But only just.

Wolber GTX-2 rims laced 3-cross to Campagnolo Record track hubs in 32-hole drilling. The spoke length was 298mm but as I explained above I think that 296mm would have been better. The spokes were Sapim Race in silver.

Hi, I have this exact rim and was trying to find the ERD. My research was showing an ERD of 613mm, which may explain why the spokes seemed to long? Was curious how you came to the ERD figure of 616.

Hi Brett, I always measure the ERD myself if I can. You can be a bit out with the hub specs but the ERD has a far greater effect on the spoke length. You need two spokes, two nipples and a tape measure. I measured a pair of rims last week and the ERD was a bit different on each. Factory runs can be slightly out now and again so it’s always good to measure it yourself if possible.
