Trip to the Horniman Museum and I think I understand objects
Today was another day spent with Maya my little two year old daughter and we went to the Horniman Museum in Forest Hill, South East London with her little friend Issa who is a little boy about the same age. It was cold outside so Issa’s father and I thought it would be best if we stayed indoors. The first idea was to go to an indoor play area but in the end we decided to go to the aquarium at the Horniman Museum. They weren’t at all interested in the fish as they had been the last time we went there but wanted simply to run around. But now they are fast on their feet and certainly kept us on our toes. The terrible twos they call it and it is starting to show. They are testing their boundaries and pushing against them as fully as they can. The cafe was totally crowded with parents and children so it was a good thing that we left the aquarium early and got in there. It was great fun but a trying day.
Having started my new Java programming course at City University I have been trying to do a bit of study and I think I’m finally starting to understand objects. For the last 2 – 3 years I’ve been reading and re-reading explanations as to what they are but the penny just isn’t dropping but this idea of the “state” of an object is starting to make me nod and say “ah, I think I’m getting it.”
