wheels and more wheels

This month has been a record high in my world of wheel building. My typical amount is something like one wheel a month, but I have done at least 10. I’m hoping that things are going to die down a bit soon as I’m quite slow and have many other things on the go such as my yoga teaching and website design business. But nevertheless it has been fun.
It has been a whole array of different cases. There has been wheel truing, a wheel building lesson and even repairing damaged wheels. Sourcing parts is also good fun but can be time consuming. But the main joy is working with parts that I don’t normally get to lay my hands on.
Some people just seem to have found my site on the internet and others came via ebay because I put an ad about fixed gear conversions in there. Then there is the new londonfgss.com and I’ve been getting many enquiries from there too. But all this seems to point to the fact that fixed gear is really taking off. Which is great I think. More people are discovering the joys of riding fixed gear and single speed.
The other fascinating thing is to see people turning up at my door as a result of deals made over the internet. Sometimes staring at a screen can make you forget that there are real people at the other end of e-mails and this has been a great reminder. Perhaps some even read my blog
